Hi all,

I left work early today to work on the fast idle problem. Several weeks
ago I recall there was a thread regarding a fast idle related to the
bypass valve. My 1970 TR6 does not have an adjustable bypass valve like
the later model TR's. Although today I did discover my problem is
related to the bypass valve. When I rebuilt the carbs I also rebuilt
the bypass valve, but I did not realize it was internally adjustable
until today.

If the valve is taken apart, and the brass tube is removed, you can
adjusted the spring tension on the diaphragm.

I have not yet been able to set the bypass valves correctly, but at
least I now know where the problem is.

Today I was able to get the idle to drop by increasing the bypass valve
spring tension, but the front carb was not pulling any air. I then
adjusted for less tension on the spring, and the idle goes back up.

Any suggestions on balancing the bypass valves between the two carbs, or
is this just trial and error.

Thanks.
