Damian, you don't say if you got some more gas and tried it after
filling the tank a bit. Also, you don't mention temperature. If a very
hot day, it could be vapor-locked. As for the things above you mention
above, they are unlikely the cause. Rings don't just croak all at once.
And the plugs would get progressively worse, not suddenly worse. Look
for an obvious ignition fault first, and then a fuel problem. If you've
got reasonably healthy spark, then the fuel pump could have died, had an
obstruction in the line, or had a vapor-locked fuel line or a plugged
fuel filter, something like that.
