I own a TR4A, A TR4A IRS, and a TR4 with factory surrey. The
windscreen on the surrey model is not fitted with the female part of the
soft top clamp, which may need to be removed to clear the steel top of the
surrey. This clamp should cause no problem when fitting the canvas type
top cover to the surrey. The major differences appear along the top of the
lip of the cockpit in the rear, starting at the rear of one door and ending
at the other. On the surrey models the flat on top of this lip is 7/8 inches
the entire length, on the other models I have it becomes very narrow on each
side before widening in the rear to the 7/8. On the surrey model there are 9
holes in the lip vs 7 on the others. The surrey holes are 3/8 inch while the
others have threaded nuts welded on the bottom of them.
It is my opinion , that by drilling the rear holes to 3/8", a surrey
would mount on any TR4, 4a, or 250.
