I have a hybrid 1973 TR6 (CF10027) with a circa 1970 engine (CC53550E)
and a probable TR4(A?) transmission (CT57639) with 'A' overdrive
coupled to a 4.11 differential of unknown origin.
The transmission has only the 2 switches needed for OD sensing the 2nd
- 4th gears. I am told that the TR4(A?) did not have reverse lamps
and that they were added on the TR1250 which would explain the lack of
the 3rd switch. There appears to be caps on each side of the top
which may or may not be threaded.
The sheet metal/frame is solid with no rust, and the car drives
strong, with a smooth clutch and overdrive... except.. I have a 'leak'
in the tranny or OD, ~1 pint in 2k MI., which may necessitate some
disassembly.
> The question is: How difficult is it to add a reversing switch while
the tranny is open?
> Also, what problems should I anticipate with such a hybrid
arrangement?
Any advice will be hopefully used to decrease my level of
frustration...
