Dear list,
This may only be of intrest to a few listers but it was an adventure
none the less. I spent a large part of the day Satuerday replacing the
drivers side floor board on my 1972 Spitfire. In brief, the floor had
gotten so bad that when i would hit a small bump, the floor would drop to
the point where the seat back release would...release. ( Not a pleasent
experiance) A VERY good buddy, the owner of a very nice TR6, graciously
allowed the use of his drivway and mig welder,(thanks Carlton!). This is
not a job to be taken lightly. There was much cursing and knashing of
teeth. The replacement floor panel, which looked like it should just
drop in....need to be "modified". And you really have to cut a lot of
metal out of the car in order to get it to even come close. But after
many hours of cutting and welding and waiting and welding....the pan was
in. Boy, what a differance a solid floor makes. I can't wait to get it
finished and see how it rides now.
