My Midget 1500 (same engine) uses an electric pump with
success.

Any low pressure (4psi) electric pump will do. A nice modern
quiet pump would be a nice touch.

These pumps tend to push much better than they pull, and
are best mounted near the tank. Modern cars mount them
inside the tank, but that's too much work.

The standard location is in the differential tunnel, unsure
how this applies to spitfires but you have a fair bit
of latitude.

...a switched power source! Other than a fuse, nothing
fancy. Take a lead off of the fusebox, make sure it's
on the fused side (goes off when fuse is pulled out) and
that it's only on when ignition is on. Run a line back
so as not to disrupt the wiring harness, and go with
it.

One point worth mentioning is that you might want to
acquire a rollover switch. You would want the power to
that fuel pump shut off in the event of a rollover.
