Martin,
Yes it is possible and I had made a manifold for doing just that.  Ran very
well and as I remember I used GT6 carbs for linkage reasons, but had to
re-jet for the Spitfire.  That was a long time ago, and would probably be
easier to just get a manifold for twin 1-1/2 SU's as used in England.  I was
really quite happy with it as I remember.  The SU manifolds as I recall are
still available in England thru Rimmer Bros - as well as jets which should
be easier to sort out.  I actually have a manifold someone else modified for
use with larger SU's and I may use it on the 70 project if I can ever find
time to finish it!  I have one of each, a twin 1-1/4 SU, twin 1-1/2 SU and a
single DCOE so we'll see which one wins :-) (kinda leaning toward the weber)
