Off the top of my head it seems that your proposed solution should work.
I am just not certain of what was meant by "keeping the MC level" in the
original instructions I based my procedure on. I assumed it meant the MC
body and _not_ the reservoir. This worked for me but of course the
reservoir was tilted slightly downwards towards the front of the MC (the
front being the end which is towards the front of the car). I now wonder
if the reservoir is supposed to be level and the MC more at its "normal"
in-car orientation.
If any hydraulic experts have any insight into this, I would like to
hear it.
