Matt-
This could be the start of a new adventure...just how late a cam timing can
be tolerated by an ex-tractor motor ??
Good thing you don't want to run this car "very hard" as I think anything
over an idle (if it starts) will be too much. An old hot rodders trick is
to retard the cam timing on a serious cam so that you can run it as a
grocery getter. However, even on a big lump of Motown iron we're talkin
about 4 to 6 degrees. At 16 degrees, if it runs at all, its gonna have its
doors blown off by 4 year olds on three wheelers at the stop light drags.

I think you have seen the light here, better to do it now (hopefully you
haven't put the nose on yet).
Wait ...was that 2 degrees advance or retard with the gear on this way ?
