Right, Ron. Note that the Mk.IV and early (1973-74 U.S. version) 1500s
use a variant of that three-rail box. It's pretty much the same except for
a synchro first gear and a larger output flange. It, too, will bolt in by
simply changing the driveshaft u-joint flange to suit. Again, you are
right in that the Mk.3 and earlier Spitfire transmissions are identical.
