Cable Lubes

Fellow Listers,

A few weeks ago there was a short reference to the proper lube/grease
for speedo & tach cables.  My speedometer cable is bouncing a bit (highlighted
by my new and very smooth Tach cable).  Should I just use a little
grease, or is there a more appropriate type of lubrication?
