Well here goes. The pumps are not interchangable, per-say. They will
physically bolt to the block but the pump lever arms are different. Also
the clocking of the inlet and outlets are slightly different. Now, having
said that, you can exchange the lever arm's from one pump to the other and
then use whichever pump you want. Case in point, I myself have an early
'glass bowl' type (which is one reason they are more expensive than the
later type all metal pump) on my 70 (later 2 liter) GT6+. By swaping the
later style lever into the earlier pump I can use this style. I happen to
like the earlier 'glass bowl pump' so that's why I did this. To use the
later style pump on an earlier engine just do the reverse. You still have
the problem of the fuel lines not matching up at the inlet, but its a minor
fix (a little rubber fuel line does the trick)

See above. . . the "D" denotes: Dumb, Dips**t, etc. and the "L" refers to:
Large, Little, Lamented, . . well you get the picture.
