Henry--
Welcome to TR3B ownership. With your purchase, we now overlap. I purchased a
TR 250 recently! I am certainly willing to trade information on our projects,
not to mention parts.
I will certainly add you to the TR3B list.
I believe your car has the original body, engine ... I understand all TR3B's
had body numbers that started with TSF, even if it had a commission number
starting with TCF... The engine number, for VTR concours purposes, is
considered original if it is within a reasonable number of the commission
number. Certainly, yours is.
As for starting a restoration, let the work begin. I really think you have
selected two TR's (3B and 250) that are truly unique. Aside from Andy Mace,
you can claim to be part of a very small community of ownership of unique
TR's on two accounts.
I have restored a TR3B and am almost finished with a TR6. In all, the TR3B is
very simple compared to the TR6. However, the bodywork and paint (fit and
finish) of the TR3B was complicated compared to the TR6 ( Heritage bodyshell
in my case). With your TR 250 having some rust, jump into the TR3B. Sounds
like your spirit, not to mention spousal support, is present.
Go for it and keep us posted. Remember, carpets on all TR3B's were supposed
to be grey, regardless of body and interior color.
Good luck.
