The surrogate buyer network is described thus: it is someone in the area
where you are not, who will go take a look at the car in question for
buying; the surrogate buyer acts as your ears and eyes and will
hopefully provide an honest and straight-forward answer to your questions
on value for the money, shape of the car, rust, electrical and mechanical
soundness, etc.
It's strictly volunteer and reimbursement for gas, time etc is between
the surrogate buyer and the prospective buyer.
This network prevents you from flying/driving to see a car not even
remotely similar to the description in the paper or magazine etc. I'm a
member of the 6-PACK (TR6-TR250) Club surrogate buyer network; and I know
that VTR has a similar system established. Hope this answers your
