Can anyone tell me why the California DMV is so eager to snap-up all the
early 60's Black license plates? I attempted to register my 64-Spitfire with
it's original Black plate "MNG 044" and having only one plate in my
possession they grabbed it and issued a new set of plates. I was very annoyed
particularly when you consider that the last 4-characters 044 were
reminiscent of the Triumph racing team of Group 44 with Bob Tullius.
