While installing a new wiring harness in a TR3A, I've run into difficulty
with the horns. Neither works at all, and when temporary wires are
connected directly from the battery to the horn, and from the horn to
ground, one horn does nothing and the other creates smoke, but no noise.
The tech pubs explain how to adjust a working horn, but are not much
help here. They also talk about six screw to loosen to adjust the
armature, but mine has not a single screw or bolt other than the
adjusting screw/nut on the contacts. There are six rivets holding the
halves of the "trumpet" together, can they be drilled out and replaced?
Does it seem likely that the horns can freeze up, and what's the best
approach if they do?
