A quote from Bob Schaller's book, More BS about TRs: "The net conclusion from all this is that it (unleaded fuel) is not believed to be any sort of problem, but the opposite. Tear down of engines that have operated on Premium Unleaded for over 8 years produced some enjoyable observations. The entire engine, head, vales, guides, plugs were free of the pestiferous white build up. There has been so much misinformation published the past few years, the confusion and stories created due to the lack of any real expertise on the part of the columnists, that their credibility in my book, is quite low. About on the par with Congressmen. Experience with modern fuel leads me to believe that by using them we can measurably extend the life of our old TR's, much to my happiness." |
