It's not too complicated. I drive mine. :-) I too live in CA. No problems so
far.
been doing it 18 years here. MGB, Spitfires, and soon I hope a redone xk-140
DHC.
It's reasonable to put in hard seats and valves when you do a valve job, but it
isn't worth it to do it just for the heck of it. I don't use any lead
substitutes.
Lead as I see it was a real bad thing to put in anything. Spark plugs fouled,
valve
heads gucked up and oil pans filled with a real ucky mess of lead and oil
sludge.
I got the best illustration of this when I pulled the pan on a newly aquirred
XK-
140 that hadn't been run for about 15 yrs of so. A real candidate for a toxic
site
designation.
Don't worry be happy drive your LBC!
I know it's not politically correct to feel this way, but at my age I have
trouble
working up a good lather about something that doesn't seem to be a problem. Be
glad the lead is gone. We're all better off.
There's lots of people running stock engines with no lead, no substitutes, no
problems,...top down.... wind in what's left of my hair......The faint smell of
hot oil...tires singing sweetly around the corners.......Don't worry be happy!
