That's why my car (and I think, all racing cars) has an oil pressure cutoff
switch wired into the fuel pump circuit. Think about it: a minor rear ender,
your motor quits, oil pressure drops to zero, fuel pump cuts off, no problem.
There's a bypass when the starter is engaged, of course, so that the engine
can be started.
