No matter what kind of paint you finally decide to put on...it will burn off.
The best paint (?) I have ever seen on a header was on one from Stahl headers
in Pa. The stuff was silver colored, and you could rub it off with a rag and
some serious elbowgrease. I don't know exactely what the stuff is, but they
will probably tell you if you say you want to recoat an existing header.
Eventually this stuff will burn off too, but it takes a long time.
If you really want to keep that header lookin new, send it to Jet-Hot and
have it coated. They even have a choice of colors. Jet-Hot is in Tempe
Arizona, I believe and they do have an 800 number.
