Didn't it feature in "Thleeping Beauty" (the Dithney film)?
(you can see where this is going, can't you?...)

"Thum day my plinth will come...." ?

Theriouthly, though:

Although my Oxford English Dictionary rattles on about architectural
structures, it does say that it can be just about anything that serves a
similar purpose as the "architectural" plinth: i.e. a supporting base or
solid platform. I'm struggling to find a suitable example now. Er. Um.
 Ah!

Plastic model kits (of your favourite lbc, or more ususally of boats)
often come with a "display plinth" to mount them on - invariably with the
name of the kit on it, e.g. "SS Titanic" although that one would be
mounted at an angle _into_ a plinth with a big hole in it....

Or, look down slightly - I'm assuming you're somewhere near a computer
at the moment :-) - and you could argue that the bottom bit of your
monitor is a plinth of some sort.
