Chris, Assuming that you indeed mean just the shifter - mine came out of my TR250 by removing the ONE bolt from the backside (side toward the rear of the car) then removing TWO side bolts, one on each side that screw in to meet a groove on each side of the shifter. These bolts then have a nut that tightens down to keep them in place. >From the sound of it, you don't have original equipment or I don't :-) Let me know if you want to discuss further.
