I depends on how bad the inside of the cylinder is scored.
If it is not too bad you can have the cylinder inside grinded, 
afterwards use a cylinder repair kit with new seals. 
On the other hand: a new cylinder is not that much more
expensive compared to a repair kit, at least not in the
Netherlands.

When bleeding the system on my TR6 I found out that I had
to do so with the cylinder in place, but not secured with its
two bolts! If you secure the cylinder the bleeding nipple will
not be at the highest possible location, thus air will remain
in the cylinder. During bleeding rotate the cylinder such that
the nipple is at its highest point, tighten the bolts afterwards.
