Been there, did that, got the Tee shirt....
No, really I just installed the new pins on my clutch fork that contact the
release bearing sleeve. Mine were worn quite flat. Just drill them out from
the back side. Then peen in the new ones via the hollowed out backs of the
replacement pins. I used a hammer and the rounded end of a drift for this 20
minute job. The pins are much cheaper than a new fork! I got mine at TRF.
I also replaced the cross shaft bushings, release bearing and sleeve, fork to
cross tube pin, clutch, press plate, etc... What a difference! Shifts and
works like butter! No more strugggles into reverse and first when warm
either.
Other SOL types said to check the "nose" that the release sleeve slides onto
for wear, and also its gasket. There is also a gasket on the little blanking
plate too. Mine were ok though.
