IMHO that is an indication that something is wrong, somewhere...
Flickering is a clear indication of a misfire.
In my experience SUs work very well with Colortune. A rich mix will cause
the yellow flame, a perfect mix will give the blue flame, whereas a lean
mix will start to misfire. Some (old) cars will run best with a "richish"
mix, i.e. with a trace of yellow. A case in point being Jags with electric
on/off start devices. They need a slightly rich mix to run properly when
the start device cuts when the engine is not yet fully warm.
