Rebuilding the engine in my early TR4 and came up with puzzler. Bentley
shows the upper compression ring as a 'plain' ring and the second compression
ring with a bevel cut on the upper edge where it rides on the liner. The new
ring set purchased from VB has two plain rings per piston - no outside edge
bevel. The plain rings do have a bevel cut on the inside edge where it fits
in the ring groove. What's the deal here guys? Did the supplier goof or
does the TR engine work OK with two plain rings? If this was a Chevy I'd
know what to do, but it wouldn't be half as interesting.....
