Help. I am in the middle of a "nuts and bolts" restoration of a TR3A (1959
TS57xxx) and am working on the differential. When I take the cover off and
remove the bolts holding the carrier bearing, it looks like the "pig" should
fall out but it doesn't. According to both manuals (factory and Haynes) it
requires a special tool called a case spreader, which, of course, is
unavailable.
The regular mechanics tell me not to mess with it, but I would like to replace
all of the bearing and grease seals and maybe install Mosses Limited Slip
differential pig. Before any of that though, it is necessary to get the old
pig out.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
