Stuck TR-6 head

Jim,

When I removed my head assy. on my 74 TR-6 I found that the head studs
themselves were holding the head in place even with the bolts removed.
Corrosion, etc on the length of the studs at the corners of the head seemed
to be the culpret. Try the "two bolts" method to remove the head studs and
you might have an easier time of it. My engine was removed from the car when
I did this so I had clearance to smack corners of the head with a length of
2x4 and my trusty mallet. Off she came!

While your at it, inspect the studs carefully for"galled threads" and other
damage which can give false torque readings, weakness etc.. I also slightly
chamfered my engine block where the studs threaded in. I had to Helicoil my
block for one stud too.
