Three years ago I replaced all the clutch components in my
Tr6. The previous owner had the gearbox rebuilt, and it now
has about 5000 miles on it.About a year ago, the 1-2 upshift
started crunching unless I shifted real slow, and pulled the
gear lever hard to the left as I pulled it down. Then the 3-2
downshift and 2-1 downshift started. Now 4-3 will only shift
at low speeds.I initially put 0.5" spacers between the slave
cylinder and bell housing to elimimate free linkage travel.
but this makes no diff. I thought the shear pin might be
bust, but its not.I pulled the gearbox, took the cover off.
The oil is clean, there are no signs of chipped
teeth on the gears or synchros, no end play in the shafts. I
am nervous about pulling the box apart, particularly as it
has J overdrive. Also not crazy about spending $800 with TRF
for a rebuilt and then find I've overlooked a clutch
problem. Any helpful sduggestions please????
