Has anyone out there got any idea what might be the problem with my rear
suspension.
The problem is that I get loud clunks and bangs from one side of the rear
suspension when I corner. The side which makes these noises is the one which
wants to lift off on the inside of the bend. The noise is worse when the
power is let off or put on.
I suspect the rear diff, which does have some play in its movement. But
this doesn't explain why it only happens on one side. The UJs on the rear
axle seem fine, and all the bushes and bolts seem to be firm. The rear
suspension has gas shock absorbers, which look fairly old but know
obvious corrosion.
The car is a Mk1 2l 1966 Vitesse with overdrive.
I don't know where to start?
Thank for any help you can give.
Steve Brown.
