I did mine last November with the engine in situ. The rod bearings were quite straight forward. It's recommended to replace the bolts as well, BTW. I also did the mains. This was more difficult as a tool of some kind is needed to slide out the upper shells. I used a polished strip of spring copper. Don't forget to have a look at thrustwashers while you're in there.
