Adrian,
I had the head off and liners out of my TR-4 three years ago and found the
area in and around the no.4 sleeve completely plugged up with some type of
sandy substance. In fact the opening where the drain valve fits was
completely full. I'm not sure if what I saw would have come out with a
normal flushing as some of it had to be chipped out.
Hope your case is not as severe.
