Hi,

The correct battery for the Spitfire is very important. The under-bonnet
supports will short across the terminals of an incorrect battery creating a
not-good situation. Remember to secure the battery with proper holddowns.

Interstate makes a proper battery designated Group 26 which measures
correctly. Interstate lives up to its name and provides quality batteries
under a fair warranty throughout the USA. Good batteries are serviceable and
not sealed for death. I believe that good batteries cost about $70 each and
that good batteries do not cost about $39.

Have fun,

My Sears DieHard battery is presently held in with a bungee cord because
its body is too "tall" to allow me to use the stock hold-downs.

Aside from purchasing a genuine Lucas replica ($$$!), what size and make
battery--if any--will fit like stock?

...or should I just purchase some generic brackets at Pep Boys or fabricate
some of my own?
