Rich, You say that your cylinder is half full, is it possible that a sudden increase/decrease in speed allowd it to tilt sufficiently to get an air lock in the system. I had a very similar experience last November, I could hardly change gear. Bleeding the system cured the problem, and I have kept the cylynder FULL since then. All your symptoms sound the same.
