Scott, Hmm, worrying about liners moving with the head off? This is a worry if the engine is brand new or just rebuilt, but if it's an original engine with 30+ years on it and normal abuse those liners won't move an inch. In fact, you'll have to beat 'em out. One can make a tool from several wide flat washers, a piece of pipe cut to length, and a head nut to hold them in place. EASY. Sorry to hear about the stud.
