Someone ought to consider a FAQ on this... But conventional wisdom
a few months ago seemed to think that 40psi+ at 2000RPM after a good
warmup indicated a pretty good engine / oil pump combination. I did notice
a difference (a good one!) when I got rid of the 10W-40 I had originally put
in and used 20W-50 instead.

I use jackstands. Four of 'em. Or you could dig a pit in your garage floor. :-)

One other note: Before draining your tranny, have a method in mind as to
how you're going to refill it. The filler bolt is tucked up next to the gearbox
cover. When I bought the GL4 gear oil from Pep Boys I also bought a hand
pump that attaches to the bottle and allows me to pump the oil right into
the tranny.

If my finances hold out I'll be doing the same this fall / winter, and I'll
definitely be adding the oil cooler. Make sure that the combo you get also
has a thermostat for the cooler so that your oil will be permitted to come
up to temperature.

Don't forget about the two hoses attached to the heater core inside the
passenger compartment. You might also want to replace the bulkhead
connector located on the firewall where the coolant gets passed through
to the heater.

BTW - replacing the hoses was my first brush with Shipwright's Disease!
:-)

Near as I can tell the rubber seal inside the gaiter goes *inside* the larger
rubber ring, not over the outside.

BTW - wait till you want to replace the fan belt! :-> Have fun!
