the reason tr changed their mind, is that it was found that the additives that started showing up in hypoid oil (80w90 common name) are hell on white metals, such as brass syncro rings. A decent multi-grade motor oil (20-50) isn't. If the trans is noisy, fix it, heavier oil just makes you vulnerable to a bigger breakdown and larger repair bill a little later on... |
