     If you're going to replace the pivot pin with a bolt, be sure to 
use a bolt with a long enough shoulder so no threads are bearing on the 
hole in the throwout arm.  The threads would quickly chew up the inside 
of the hole.
     Another solution would be to drill a hole in the pivot pin so a 
cotter pin or other type of retainer could be used.  It seems to me 
that many years ago I may have used the simple expedient of inserting 
the pivot pin from the top of the bellhousing on my MkII, but I could 
be mistaken.  YMMV.
