Regarding the apparantly NLA piston removal tool, you can make your own:
There are rubber freeze plugs - these expand to fill a freeze plug hole 
when a nut on the plug is turned.  They come in various sizes so you can 
usually find one that will fit your piston.  Drill a hole in an 
appropriately sized piece of stout scrap metal (one that will not bend 
when you prise the piston out) and attach the plug.

One other technique a friend of mine swore by is to replace the bleeder 
screw with a grease fitting and use a grease gun to push the pistons 
out.  Same principle as compressed air but a lot more controlled.
