Just a few hints:
The trouble with wavering speedos is often the cable having received
too much lubrication.
When installing a new cable, never *EVER* oil with engine oil or similar.
This will cause terrible waver. Apply grease *sparingly* to the inner
cable; New cables are usually sufficiently treated as delivered.
Route the new cable carefully, trying to follow the original route as
closely as possible. Avoid sharp corners at all cost. And even if you
think everything is all right, the cable may need slight rerouting to
avoid the last trace of waver.
Also, there must be no oil whatsoever within the speedo itself. In
particular that applies to the rotating disc.
