I haven't seen anyone respond regarding an additive which offsets the short=
comings of gas with ethanol. It will be interesting to see if anyone knows =
of such an animal.=20
Regarding damage, I can only offer that I've used ethanol laced fuel in all=
my vehicles without issue for many years including the Tiger and a 1969 BS=
A. However, it has quickly compromised several small-engine carburetors on =
chain saws (2T) and weedeaters (4T). A carb rebuild or replacement of the w=
hole carb, which is cheap, makes the implement immediately start and run no=
rmally again. This problem does not occur using no-alcohol gas. So I am con=
vinced ethanol fuel has one or more damaging components but the number and =
amount of susceptible materials in my vehicles seems to be modest.
While there is a station which sells alcohol free fuel in my county, it is =
too far away to be practical. In addition to the av-gas option I thought I'=
d mention that there is a local fuel distributor who supplies no alcohol "r=
ace gas", by the gallon or drum, to drivers at the local dirt track. It wou=
ld be a little pricey to fuel a street car this way but it might be conside=
red depending on the volume required.=20
