The clutch could be dragging. Take hold of the clutch push
rod and force it 
forward (toward the bleeder), seating the piston in the
slave cylinder (watch 
the reservoir doesn't over flow). Immediately move
the push rod back and forth 
between the clutch arm and the slave to check for
end play. If it exists, adjust 
the rod longer, leaving a little clearance. As
you adjust, keep checking that 
the piston remains seated as it may creep to
the rear while unloaded.
