My experience too was that it seemed to give a reading that was very
similar to the stock sender.

Any given sender and any given gauge will be slightly different but the
Autometer
sender is as close as any original type.

I can conclusively say that the Autometer sensor does not work accurately
with the standard gauge. From memory it reads way too high.
