There is another brand of sender that comes with 2 adapters (with  NPT) that 
will screw into the 1/2" NPT on your intake.  The sender screws  into one of 
these adapters.  The reading is  perfect when compared  with a stock unit.
A second and harder method that I've also done is to get a brass  adapter at 
HD 1/2" male NPT x 1/4" NPT female. I drilled it out and tapped if  for 
straight threads to fit the standard adapter.
Both are actually still in my car and when I swap the wires from  one to the 
other, I get the exact same reading.
Option #1 is really much easier.  If you need the info on it,  let me know 
and I'll  dig out the part # and supplier.
