I'm not sure why you say it can not be repaired unless there is way
more wrong then the bushings.
There is an Oilite style bushing on each end of the motor shaft which can
dry up and seize. It is not that hard to get at them, clean them and let
them soak in oil until they are saturated then they're good to go again.
