Richard,
The motor from the MG Midget (with the mounting plate and fan) is a good
replacement. My recollection is that it pretty much bolts right in. I just
went to look (to make sure), but then I remembered that I pirated the
motor/fan for my Turbo Pinto project. The motor is shorter, but don't let
that fool you, the thing blows very well. Also, you have to run the motor
backwards, but don't let that fool you either, it still blows very well.
When I put the MG motor/fan in my Pinto the housing is much larger and the
fan shorter. Yet it still moved a whole lot of air even running backwards -
as stated above. I often find them at Pick A Part type yards - about $12.
