I had a set that the PO out on the car in the 60's. They were made in the UK
by JAP and are magnesium aluminum (back of the wheel has 'MAGNA'
cast in them. These wheels had the perfect offset and width for a Tiger. and
when racing were preferred over the 2 piece racing wheels of the day.
I sold them to Uncle Wally who used them on his autox Alpine and used the
money to buy my LAT 9's. Look at the picture of Tiger Tom's Tiger towing a
Tiger.
in Taylor's 'Making of a Tiger', and you'll seeing two more sets.
While not exactly concurs correct. Those who know understand what they
are seeing. Replacement are made of unobtainium.

Now I'm even sorrier I didn't get to see your car at United!
A set of those was on my Tiger when I bought it (still have the wheels,
tho the car is gone). They're very light--I believe they were a
magnesium/aluminum combination (magnalume??). Or perhaps they were all
magnesium. One of the wheels had a crack and I couldn't find anyone
who'd weld it ("Magnesium?!? Sorry, gotta go. I think I hear my mother
calling!!") :-)
And yes, I do know what happens if magnesium ignites. :-(
They look good on your car!
Best Regards

P.S. Surprised to find out there's at least 2 other Tigers with those
wheels.
P.P.S. I believe that's the same JAP that built the engines on the
Morgan 3-wheelers. Anybody know for sure?
