OK, found the part number, but I must apologize, I took a look under the
hood and see that it isn't really in front of the head, as I imagined
from work yesterday, its off to the side a little (but still small, and
less obtrusive than using welded brackets). I remember searching for a
really flat alternator I could hide in front of the head at the time,
but couldn't come up with one less than around 6" back-to-front of
pulley, which is what this one measures. It was off an '89 Hyundai
Excel, Part Number XCL14950, also used on some Mitsubishis and others.
It came with a serpentine pulley, which I swapped with a V-pulley, so
may not be the best application. Sorry to get everyone's hopes up.

Tom Witt sent me photos of one that looks even shorter, and seems to be
in front of the head, off a Geo Metro.
