Bob,
Your message is of great interest to me, and I would appreciate further
details on who had LAT 31 wheels on their car, other than Doane Spencer,
so as to validate them for inclusion in the TigersUnited.com material.
As of September, 1966, the Dealer Confidential LAT Price List
http://www.tigersunited.com/resources/parts_service/pp-letters.asp
and http://www.tigersunited.com/resources/parts_service/lat.asp
did not list the LAT 31 knock-off alloy wheels and hubs as an option.
And, unless you were Doane Spencer,
your chances of getting a set were near zero. They were homogulated,
but I believe production was limited
to Doane, or just a few top race winners. If you have ANY other
verifiable owners of this equipment, or cars other than Doane's race
car, to disclose, it would be of great interest to the Tiger community.
Lightweight Magnesium Wheels were offered as a Rootes (England) Factory
Race Department option, and were likely Minilites, though unstated in
their Factory Performance Options listing:
http://www.tigersunited.com/resources/RootesGrpRacingDept/pp-RootesGrpRacingDept5.asp
Please update our verifiable records, so we may include this interesting
statement.
