Jim,
Graphite is purported to be a corrosion blocker - it only claims to coat the
cooling system surfaces. It does not claim improve the cooling capacity of
the system simply by adding it to your present coolant. However, they claim
you can run pure water plus Graphite and, thereby, get better cooling. I
would caution on both counts. First, I wouldn't trust it without
corroboration to stop corrosion by itself. Second, if you have at least 50%
water and a good high-flow water pump, then going to 100% water won't make
any noticeable difference in cooling efficiency - that is, heat transfer
from engine to radiator is no longer rate limiting.
If you want to take a chance and don't mind having black coolant, then toss
in a bottle and see how it works.
